’Tis moonlight, summer moonlight, All soft and still and fair; The solemn hour of midnight Breathes sweet thoughts everywhere,

The most comprehensive round up of streaming culture here from The Guardian. An embarrassment of riches.

Living legend pianist Martha Argerich (with violinist Renaud Capuçon) live from the Hamburg Symphony’s hall today (Thurs) at 8pm Hamburg time, 7pm London, 2pm New York.

A 2016 'realization' of Bach's St Matthew Passion conducted by Kent Nagano with Ian Bostridge as the Evangelist.
All other streams from the Hamburg Staatsoper have expired but there's a 1971 staging of The Magic Flute by the great actor and raconteur Peter Ustinov available on DVD to order.

Was totally blown away by Willy Decker's La Traviata for the Met. There are probably no more than a half dozen production ideas yet every one is so meticulously and effortlessly thought through driving the opera to its devastating calamity. Sonya Yoncheva (35-year-old Bulgarian soprano) truly does break your heart as Violetta. One really believes if only her love had been consecrated and un-thwarted she might have conquered fate her inevitable illness.

Alas, neither of Brit director Phelim McDermott's amazing, inventive productions of Philip Glass’ Akhnaten and Satyagraha seem available on The Met on demand.
[Meant to mention what was one of Leontyne Price's legendary performances, La Forza del Destino (1984). Even with Price in the cast, though, this opera rises or falls on its two male leads, and Giuseppe Giacomini and Leo Nucci are titans. The opera simply falls flat without such extraordinary talent. Otherwise why would Leonora even bother? Maestro James Levine is at his very best here.]

The gorgeous (in every respect) American singer Isabel Leonard joins the illustrious ranks of Carnegie Hall Live as of today -maybe takes a few days to ‘stream’: Michael Feinstein, Renée Fleming, Joshua Bell, Ute Lemper, Angélique Kidjo to name but a few! She states on her IG site: "still working on being a good audio/visual engineer". So is Kitty;) As for Andrew, technology is forever fascinating but forever not his forte!

Broadway cheer this weekend with Falsettos (only for 48h-and it’s subscribe/free trial) and The Sound of Music Live! (2013) another of NBC's exciting studio stagings (Hairspray, The Wiz, Peter Pan). Will we get the NBC 1982 Ain't Misbehavin with the original Broadway cast?

But you can see Ken Page and the Cats re-union on Stars in the House. Guess you have to be a Broadway groupie to love these. Clearly there are throughout the world as the show is nearing $400,000 in donations for artist charities since its inception in March.
Also tonight (Thurs) live Hosted by Will Reynolds and Eric Price (Fred Ebb Award Winning composers) "New Songs" Live at Birdland

The crazy, great Raúl Esparza and Samira Wiley (maybe both attributes also;) will star in a live-streamed production of Molière's Tartuffe, directed by Lucie Tiberghein (only from June 27 thru July 1, 2pm)

Jason Robert Brown’s award-winning musical, The Last Five Years streams as of today from London, June 25 for only 2 more booked/paid performances. Their parts were recorded entirely in isolation to then be edited together into one complete show.

Very little mention of art on this site nowadays, I know. Not that I don't read all your emails, dear galleristikas! I do! The funniest thing about all this is art critic Jerry Saltz (his IG): "If you can have sex online, for God's sake, I'm sure you can look at art online and have an okay time".

Me, personally, tautologically, as much as I think of myself;) just don't get an erection (mustn't say the 'o' word or they'l gO at me;) looking at art online. Opera still does the trick. Theatre. Sometimes. Concerts, definitely. Really: Rothko or Ryman virtually?! But we will get THERE! Just not for a few decades. Then, it will be totally something different than we ever believed was possible. And beyond their graves they will be shouting out!

Looking forward to some London Art Week lectures. Hope they will remain on the YouTube link and that I don't always have to arise at 6am for London time. But that's a Covid focus isn't it, as they say in America! Art focus without medication!

Kitty: Lovin' my hammock, Captain! Merci, merci.
Andrew: You're very welcome 'tree-hugger'.
Kitty: Wish the squirrels wouldn't bark at me.
Andrew: Well, u can't exactly erect a sign saying Friendly Cat. Even if they could read, they'd be very suspicious. I mean it is America.
Kitty: We couldn't make it higher?
Andrew: NO. I don't want you having an afternoon cat-mare and tumbling to the ground and for me to put you back together.
Kitty: You make me sound like a catbot.
Andrew: LOL. I have Sound of Music for our Saturday Night Movie.
Kitty: Is there a cat?
Andrew: There's a kindofa kitten. You'll see. Thought you'd like it for your 'Mr. Darcy cat'.
Kitty: [very impressed] Sounds great.
Andrew: And I have a Saturday Night song in mind.
Kitty: You will stay sober and not do all those weird notes?
Andrew: [smiles] I always play 'weird' notes even when I'm on wheatgrass!
Kitty: Just want everything to be perfect, and then we'll wake up and [she sings] 'Put on Our Sunday Clothes'
Andrew: Are you learning that for your show?
Kitty: [grins cunningly] Peut-être
Andrew: That would make a great duet with Farouk.
Kitty: [eyes alight]
