Anyone know if this 'Chagall' I own is real or fake? I have asked all those 'in the know'. As it is a work on paper it really isn't cost effective to send it to Paris for the Comité Marc Chagall authentication. I am prepared to eat humble pie if it's...My reasoning is that as both Chagall and Barr died in 1984/5 it would be crazy to fake this in their lifetime. It turned up at Christie's NY in 1994 as part of a larger prestigious consignment. They had doubts and did not consign. I love it as it is all about Chagall line. Everyone thinks color when Chagall is mentioned. Take out all his color and be even more amazed.
I need to pay a few tiny taxes. Everyone is in debt except moi! And unless you are in debt no-one wants to help. Crazy world isn't Mr Newley!
By the way, if you can't find anyone to replace Mr Thomas P at The Met I am deliciously unemployed, or is that unemployable;) That's not such a crazy notion (hey- don't take that bottle away I haven't finished yet...) I mean honorary Brit cursing with Ozzie blood. Not a bad start to garner perspective.
