Cough and you're a Communist today today in America (one really needs to be Ricky Gervais to get away with that). Is it legitimate for President Trump to ban all shengen travel to the U.S.? Except American citizens? So, using logic here. What are the numbers of U.S. citizens entering the 'homeland' today? Do they outnumber the Euro 'shengens'? The cough of an American is less lethal than…
Wow! Look at all the emails today: just like XMas just with a virus. Please don't die before giving us your credit card details. The Loved One.
I feel very, very, VERY in solidarity with Broadway that will be affected by the end of all commercial entertainment ventures 500 or more people ban on gatherings [Broadway is now officially dark until further notice and 500 or less seat venues are decreed a legal capacity of 50%]. Is that in the insurance contract? There are very, very serious implications here on the American financial system. Markets are one thing. They ebb and flow. As do box office receipts. But is it fair that the production YOU have invested in (let alone the talent of performers) will lose money 'cause of a government decree? Is cough 501 more or less a threat than cough 101?
Network- my favorite dystopian movie become a hit on Broadway. But if it just opened now? Maybe akin to Marvin Hamlisch's dream project The Sweet Smell of Success opening after 9/11 and bombing.
Discuss?
where am I going…..not sure…
interested to see what Stephen Colbert makes of all this…. Leno and Noah and Kimmel, and Conan and Corden - how many are in your audiences?
Does the ban include political rallies? hmmm…
Does the ban include animals? 501 Dalmatians for….
shame on you world- you did little to halt the illegal trafficking of live animals in Chinese markets.
Actor Tom Hanks (currently quarantined with his wife in Queensland, Australia whilst shooting a movie) knows all about 'witch-hunts'. In Bridge of Spies he played the American lawyer who was only doing his job being counsel to the Soviet spy Rudolf Abel. The real life atty James B. Donovan had bricks hurled through his window and much much more. Arthur Miller wrote pretty much everything there was to say about Americans (nay humanity) in The Crucible, All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, ALL his plays. Not a reason for pessimism, nor writing fewer plays: I would argue more optimism. The face of adversity is almost a vertiginous cliff face, yet there are those that can reach the summit agin' all odds.
So, what do we do when the world is in lock down and you have no money to invest in the 10% stock market decline that will make the rich much much richer and the poorer ppp. poorer? !
Get an Amazon Prime free one month trial account. My Mac DVD drive went AWOL and I bought a new USB drive for a 1/3 of the DVD cleaner price and got a free one month Prime.
Wow! Fleabag- yo! Waller-Bridge mugging to camera akin the old Brit stand-up comics but it works. Incredibly brilliantly. Maybe without that teethy smile of hers (my smile is akin Tom Hanks, thankfully for non-$20k dental implants), and that hair curl would it be the same?
And Mozart in the Jungle. What is it that keeps me fascinated by this trollop;) ! Methinks the performances. All power for Amazon for initially believing in this series when they were indeed babies against the bathwater. I'm into Series 4. Lola Kirke has been advised by the costume department to elucidate her beautiful breasts. Interestingly, she has maintained the starring Lola Kirke. That's the genius of the series that at any minute one thought she might fall. She never did. At least not without a come back.
And Gael might not exactly be a Furtwängler. Nor a Dudamel. But OMG do wee need another Roger Norrington to makes us realize the the classical symphonic repertoire isn't boring. Loved Malcolm McDowell 's conductor and the Beethoven motorbikes and flames. Way to go Wolfgang!
…now where were we:
Dear Sir,
My protege Kitty is no longer interested in your constant …….
If i were an elf, i’d go ding, dong, ding, dong…….xxxXX
EXT: on the footpath outside a Broadway theater.
A male Dalmatian and his three Dally pups. Their eyes and ears downcast almost sinking into the pavement. They had traveled all the way from Sacramento to see Sooty Dog starring in Cows About Romance. A sign outside states: Full-500, NO HUMANS.
INT: Meanwhile at JFK airport, a giraffe is splayed on the floor looking forlornly at the tarmac. A bunch of violets propped against the window pane nestling in a tiny puddle. He was going to propose…
Well no Flying Dutchman Met Opera HD live tomorrow (Sat). Hélas. I really wanted to hear your musical thoughts Maestro Gergiev. We have world enough and time…here’s a Furtwängler taste. Seems rather tame initially, then you begin to see the arc as if upon a horizon….then finally classic Furtwängler as if nothing else matters in the entire world. Every detail pulsating inside you….Reminds me of that Florida hurricane a few years back when an entire bay of water was literally sucked in the sky. The beauty and destruction moving like a mountain inexorably towards land. I've never quite worked out just how Furtwängler achieves that. This enormous pulsating organism transforming everything in its path.
[Just read in the NYT that The Met Opera “plans to begin offering nightly online streams of filmed operas from its extensive catalog, free of charge, beginning Monday at 7:30 p.m. with a 2010 performance of Bizet’s Carmen.” It is heartbreaking when cultural institutions who have run aground with financial problems manage to sail again only to be stymied by the Corona Virus.]

Gonna let Kitty hear this and try to explain what is sadness. I kinda think she already knows….what misguided ideals can become…and what ideals should never be guided….
I hope this website opens up issues for debate, discussion rather than any closure. The very last thing I am interested in is indoctrination. Words are very powerful tools of debate. Of change. Equally of alienation. Saw a sign today at a public NY facility that stated in big letters 'Keep your distance' (re the Corona Virus). Meant well but, alas, that is more hurtful to me than any poem ever could be.
Beethoven: Fidelio -- „Mir ist so wunderbar"
Kitty: Kittens and dogs singing. Wunderbar, amour…
INT. Night. Kitty is fast asleep in her shoe box. She's wearing a pirate hat she found in the basement. Two of her whiskers got caught on the hat velcro so (unbeknownst) her left teeth are exposed, just like a pirate!
