I don't believe I requested bodyguards when interviewing 'Sir' 'Bob' Wilson at the Almeida theatre in London for Hamletmachine all those millennia ago;) None of you have ANY idea what I went through all those decades!!!! I blame you 'Sir' 'Bob' for introducing me to beer with Vodka chasers. I was like, ummm, a 'nun' before meeting you;) Can't say that I like Vodka those/these/nowadays.. but it's kinda cheaper than good red wine for the bucks. I guess yous just die quicker. Yeah....:) !
I wouldn't mind Juliet Binoche, Catherine Deneuve and Isabelle Huppert at my side armed with large accoutrements! I could show show you the world...ooops ...wrong movie..hmmm...maybe not. Mind you: lots out out of work celebs who are great marksmen at 20 paces wouldn't mind some 'bar tending' work. Nice if you can get it!
'Sir' Bob: do you remember 'Sir';) Robert Lloyd - he very kindly agreed to an experimental something (we worked together at Royal Op CV. )- kinda a rehab clinic for those talented who don't drink; just think way too much. Anyways...he said to me that Pelleas was the most liberating production of his life. Well...words to that e/affect. On tape someone in my catacombs.
And to think, now, I never really asked anyone for anything. Ever. Now everyone asks for the moon that they will never really see. Well in fairness not everyone. Every teenage From the Top musician should just ...I don't know throw their cell phone off Acapulco. Practice, practice, practice. Then just go CRAZY! The music world too is so so so STILL unfair. And it may have absolutely nothing to do with your talent. NOTHING! Yet maybe (despite all the screens in auditions blah di blah di blah) maybe you really ARE IT. And the 'they' just cannot handle/want/fund/whatever THAT. All you can is be the greatest of yourself. If 'they' don't dig it: simply move on. I don't want to say give up 'cause there is so so so s much amazing talent out there. Mentioned a movie recently that as I wrote 'gnawed at my ankles' and ankles can be of mind too. Depression is so so so very real. Even a Broadway musical couldn't realty change the popular mind.....

Even shared a 2am cab ride home Sir 'Bob' we went our separate ways (not interested in 'that' nonsense- although we could re-write history as everyone else seems to do around the world). Wish I'd kept that tablecloth that you keep sketching on. Story of my life. Not greedy enough. (Actually heard a client pawing over paper art at a major NY auction house say that out loud "that's right. We're greedy".) It's true. Guess I was a threat and he couldn't afford oil.
You appear to have got back very safely that night Sir 'Bob'- no thanks to the STASI covert ops who were tracking our every move no doubt. It might be nice to get a much bigger thank you for all those Americans (one of whom runs a TV company now in NY) whom I got house seats for at the Volksbühne in East Berlin pre-...!! ! And so so so so many folk criticize me. The cheek of them asking for like 6 tickets! I had ordinary East Berlin actors coming up begging for a seat. And no I wasn't a triple agent. And would I tell you if I was. You will never know. How are you Mr Le Carré? They prefer fiction don't they. Hides all the 100% embarrassing facts of the fiction.
I got a helluva lot more....I should write that ordinary auto-biography I've been meaning to all these years. But it just gets more and more.... unbelievable....that's a word me seems to remember from London days........I'm not hard to kill btw:)
