On the Russia/Ukraine conflict: It’s hurtful. We’re not allowed to have opinions. It’s our job [as actors] to understand human nature…that’s the premise we come from. They think it’s some ego-driven thing it’s not. It’s about what are human beings about.

Why do so many other ‘shells’ and ‘things’ keep doing the ticking clock sound? Are they making fun of me? Don’t understand. Wish you’d come visit more often Jenny. So nice here with the sea view. I feel so at home, if slightly alone. Again. Naturally.

Miscast is so much fun. No freebies though. A few ‘mouse-baits’ appear on YouTube if we’re lucky. Remember Katrina Lenk from Mousicall! Now she’s a rich cat! Not with Manhattan rents she ain’t and vet invoices! I really need this job…

Sad news of Barry Humphries death but his character Dame Edna Everage is alive, well and relentlessly funny forever on YouTube. Impossible to single out any one but…

And comedy doesn’t get much better than this…

“You mustn’t judge Australia by the Australians” quipped Dame Edna.

I’d say the same thing about Americans possums. Almost every other country I’ve been to, except, strangely, England.

Did Andrew say something nice for once.? Goodness gracious. For some strange reason, John Oliver was sent an invite to the Coronation of King Charles III. So he very kindly passed it onto to me, knowing that I so often unwittingly wear a crown of thorns. How could ‘flower power’ get so ‘fffd up’? !! The Great Dame - Ray Martin interviews Barry Humphries (60 Minutes Australia)

Designing dresses for Dame Edna

It wasn't just the quick wit of Barry Humphries that made him a great comic. It was curiosity. Not one great comedian who isn't/wasn't. Life's beauty and ludicrousness.

[There's a bit of a re-write here me been a thinkin'. Though Barry and his creation Dame Edna were undefinably funny the only nomenclature surely- is artist. Dame Edna wasn't akin Robin Williams, credit where credit's due, Robin could most probably have taken down Dame Edna in a comedy wrestling match. Barry, though, created a living comic human sculpture. Unsurpassed. So he would be rising like a phoenix as...

Mr.Humphries had way too much respect for great artisans to even think this. He simply loved performing. Just can't think of anyone who was so painstakingly meticulous in achieving comic simplicity and entertaining every echelon of society.]

[One last addiction: feels like I should have seen this but never had until now. I was acting/producing Off-Off Broadway playwright Maria Irene Fornes, and Barry was, well, doing this in London at the same time. ’Spooky wooky Possum’

The fight over banning books

Each mortal thing does one thing and the same:

Deals out that being indoors each one dwells;

Selves — goes itself; myself it speaks and spells,

Crying Whát I dó is me: for that I came.
